# KDS

The Kitchen Display System (KDS) is a web-based screen that shows incoming orders with full modifier details in real time. It's optional — enable it when you need it, leave it off if you don't.

## Enabling the KDS

Go to **Apps > Dash > Settings** in your Shopify admin.

Navigate to the **KDS** section.

Toggle KDS on.
{% endstep %}

Save your changes.

## Accessing the KDS Screen

The KDS runs in any web browser — no special hardware or software required.

In **Settings > KDS**, find the KDS link in your settings.

Copy the link.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Open the link in a browser on the screen you want to use — a tablet mounted in the kitchen, a wall-mounted monitor, a laptop, or any other available device.

The KDS will show your location name at the top and display a "No active tickets" message until orders start coming in.

## How Orders Appear

When staff send an order to the KDS from the POS, it appears on the screen automatically. Each order shows all items with their selected modifiers, so your kitchen team sees exactly what to prepare.

You can use the **Show Completed** button to toggle between active and completed orders.
